Via Carol:
It's Tuesday I just brought in the mail.
"Any mail for me?" asks Joe, who has just returned from six hours in the hospital to deal with dehydration, a high fever, and a new case of strep throat.
"No," I said. "Nothing for you. Just bills and junk mail."
"But, I'm sick!" Joe declared with great indignation. "I should be getting sympathy cards!"
"Well," I said. "Since people just found out a few hours ago that you were sick, I don't think they've really had time to get you a card, mail it, and have it here by this afternoon. Besides, I think people probably are going to call you to talk to you instead because they will want to hear your voice."
Joe was silent for a few moments and then said, "But a card would be so much lovelier."
